Training for government agencies

Part of our success has come from our long-term partnerships with hundreds of federal, state and local government agencies throughout the U.S. We have provided ongoing assistance to them in developing their administrative, professional, managerial and technical staffs.

Our wide range of content, skill in customization, flexibility and responsiveness and our large professional staff–including over 300 trainers–provide our government clients the insight and experience with their unique work environments that they need and require.

Customized training programs

We can create a fully customized training solution in order to address your organizational needs and objectives. Starting with conversations between our team and your key stakeholders, we build your training from the ground up. We’ll work together to identify and understand your training objectives and goals. From there, we’ll select the specific skills, strategies and the appropriate delivery style to accomplish the objectives, develop the content, incorporate your culture, design exercises and activities for active participation and provide follow-up coaching.

You’ll have an opportunity to discuss your training and development objectives with our hand-selected trainer who will incorporate your input into the training day. Unlike with other training companies, the trainer facilitating your event will be an integral part of this process. Our trainers don’t just “show up and talk.” They work directly with your account manager, our instructional designers and you to identify and understand what it takes for your training to be a success. No matter what type of interaction you are looking for, experiential, interactive or virtual training, we have the best resources in the industry!

Content licensing

Developing a training program can literally take months of preparation. Your organization may already have a professional staff on board to present courses to your employees, but not the time to initiate, develop and evaluate all the training. Our flexible and simple process provides customized content for specific training needs. We can customize a course for your business or you can choose from one of our 250+ courses ready for immediate delivery.

Your licensing package comes complete with a master facilitator’s guide, participant workbooks and PowerPoint presentation. There are no annual renewables when you license our content, and you can use your own trainers to present it to large or small audiences whenever you choose.

Flexible train-the-trainer solutions

Let our trainers train your trainers! Our flexible and client-focused approach will provide your organization with the highest-impact train-the-trainer solution. Most organizations have in-house professional training staff on board to deliver training but don’t have the time to evaluate, initiate and develop all of the materials required. We recognize that your in-house trainers are experts when it comes to understanding your organization, mission, culture and employees the best! Since they know best how to improve productivity and growth in your organization, our focus is to provide a flexible solution in order to deliver a high-impact, results-oriented training program.

Whether your trainers are new or have years of training experience, SkillPath can provide training related to basic front-of-the-room platform skills or professional speaking and presentation skills, or we’ll train your trainers to present our courses anytime you wish.

Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ) Training

Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) define the competencies needed to develop a federal corporate culture that drives results, serves customers and builds successful teams and coalitions within and outside the organization. Demonstrated fulfillment of all ECQs by government managers is required for entry into the Senior Executive Service (SES).

The SES is comprised of men and women charged with leading the continuing transformation of the federal government. These leaders possess well-honed executive experience and skills and they share a broad perspective of government and a strong commitment to public service.

ECQs are also the criteria used by many federal and state agencies in the selection, performance management and leadership development of people wishing to advance in management and executive positions.

There are five Executive Core Qualifications:

  • ECQ 1 – Leading Change
  • ECQ 2 – Leading People
  • ECQ 3 – Results Driven
  • ECQ 4 – Business Acumen
  • ECQ 5 – Building Coalitions

What SkillPath ECQ training provides you:

SkillPath Enterprise Solutions provides customized training to help government managers better understand each ECQ and write effective qualifications statements. These statements give readers such as executive resources staff, rating and selecting officials and Qualifications Review Board (QRB) members specific information about applying managers’ achievements in the ECQs. This is an important part of each manager’s consideration for advancement.

SkillPath helps participants identify different ways of fulfilling each ECQ. Then we instruct and coach participants so they master the Challenge-Context-Action-Result model the government prefers for writing their ECQ statements in a vivid, compelling way. This includes:

Challenge. Describe a specific problem or goal.

Context. Talk about the individuals and groups you worked with, and/or the environment in which you worked, to tackle a particular challenge (e.g., clients, co-workers, members of Congress, shrinking budget, low morale).

Action. Discuss the specific actions you took to address a challenge.

Result. Give specific examples of the results of your actions. These accomplishments demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of your leadership skills.
