Bestselling and award-winning authors Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner have been investigating the practices of exemplary leadership for over twenty-five years. Their extensive research has provided solid evidence on the actions leaders take to get extraordinary things done in organizations. With the publication of the 4th edition of The Leadership Challenge in 2007, they have reinforced their reputation as “the most trusted source for becoming better leaders.” They have recently completed an analysis of over 950,000 responses from leaders in 73 countries to their assessment instrument, The Leadership Practices Inventory. This new data offers valid and reliable information about universally applicable leadership practices and fresh new insights into how leaders impact the performance of individuals and organizations.
Using The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® as the framework for his discussion, in this audio conference Jim Kouzes will discuss several of the most vital lessons that he and Barry have learned from their most recent investigations. Among the findings Jim will discuss are these:

Jim’s Bio: Jim Kouzes is the co-author with Barry Posner of the award-winning and best-selling book, The Leadership Challenge. Now in its 4th edition, The Leadership Challenge is available in 16 languages, including Chinese, and has sold over 1.5 million copies. It was #3 on Amazon Editors’ Picks for the Best Business Books of 2007, something no other 4th edition book has achieved. It was also the winner of the 1995-96 Critics' Choice Award and the 1989 James A. Hamilton Hospital Administrators' Book Award. Jim and Barry have co-authored over a dozen other books on leadership, and one of their recent titles, A Leader’s Legacy (2006), was selected by Soundview Executive Book Summaries as one of the top 30 books of the year and the Globe and Mail (Canada) as one of the top ten books of 2006.
Jim is also the Dean’s Executive Professor of Leadership, Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. He is not only a highly regarded leadership scholar; The Wall Street Journal has cited him as one of the 12 best executive educators in the U.S. In 2006 Jim was presented with the Golden Gavel, the highest honor awarded by Toastmasters International. Jim doesn’t just research and speak about leadership. Before devoting his full time to speaking and writing, he was a practicing manager for over 30 years, including a dozen years as president, CEO, and chairman of the Tom Peters Company. Jim believes it was on January 20, 1961, when he was first inspired to dedicate himself to leadership. That was the day he was one of only a dozen Eagle Scouts who served in John F. Kennedy's Honor Guard at the Presidential Inauguration.
